At the International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) Presidium meeting
held in the Ukraine in September 2005, it was confirmed by vote of member
countries that South Africa, represented by the Institute of Mine
Surveyors of South Africa, would host the XIVth International Congress of
the ISM in 2010.
Mike Livingstone-Blevins, a professional mine surveyor and member of
PLATO Council is currently vice president of the ISM and also
president-elect, due to take over as president in 2007.
The ISM is the mine surveying equivalent of FIG.
